Mission Statement
To build, protect, and improve this Credit Union by providing a full range of contemporary financial services to our field of membership, while maintaining the Credit Union's long-term financial stability and integrity. Fort Worth City Credit Union is owned and controlled by the membership for whose benefit it exists.
History
As a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative, Fort Worth City Credit Union was chartered in 1929 with the basic premise of offering generous rates of return on savings accounts, low-interest loans, and useful financial services to help our members get more out of their hard-earned dollars - and out of life.
Our status as not-for-profit sets us apart from other types of financial institutions. It means that we work daily to provide each and every member with the time- and money-saving opportunities. With more than 70 years of service, today the Credit Union has over $90 million in assets and offers a long list of financial tools to help members and their families build for financial success.
Who Can Join?
Membership in Fort Worth City Credit Union is limited by law to the City of Fort Worth employees, the museum employees, MedStar employees, the employees of select contractors that provide services to the City, and members of these employees' immediate families.
Our policy is "once a member, always a member" regardless of where you live or work. That means retirement or change of employment does not affect your membership status.
Security
In addition to our over 70-year history of success and growth within the financial industry, we operate under laws and regulations that restrict investments to safe and insured items. Annual exams by regulators and an independent audit by a C.P.A. firm ensure compliance with these requirements.
All Credit Union accounts are insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, an agency of the federal government. It is one of the strongest share insurance guarantees in the nation.
Ownership
With a minimum of a $25 deposit, eligible persons may join the Credit Union. Your membership entitles you to a vote and a voice in the daily operations. You have the option to elect volunteers to serve on the board of directors which sets policies and establishes bylaws.
After paying all operating expenses, Credit Union profits are returned to members in the form of higher returns on savings. Lower rates on loans, and a variety of fee-free or low-cost services.
